ACHE West 2009 Regional Conference
Thursday, May 7, 2009
Noon to 4:30pm
Online via WIMBA

ACHE West held its annual conference Excellence and Access: Continuing Higher Education Across the West online via WIMBA on Thursday, May 7th, 2009. With travel budgets restricted for many western schools, the West Board took the opportunity to try a new approach for reaching out to the membership.  Courtesy of Southern Utah University, the online conference was hosted free of charge.

Dr. William Sederburg, Utah Board of Regents, gave the keynote presentation. Dr. Rick Osborn joined the conference to discuss national ACHE news and Dr. Jim Pappas was also online from the national office at the University of Oklahoma.  A panel consisting of Dr. Mernoy Harrison, Arizona State University; Dr. Skip Parks, California Polytechnic State University; Dr. Terry Ratcliff, Whitworth University; and Dr. Kevin Robinson, Southern Utah University discussed Creating Opportunity in a Climate of Reduced Resources.  Sean Gallagher of Eduventures presented on current educational trends in the context of economic changes. The membership had the opportunity to discuss issues and opportunities at their institutions in an open forum session.

Meeting online was a new venture for the West and a good time was had by all! The Conference drew approximately 40 attendees.
